AGENDA/MATTERS ARISING
Our Vision and Purpose
VISION
- Bicultural organisation
- Bicultural partnership with Board
- Embracing, enabling
PURPOSE
- Build relationships (client, whanau, hapu, iwi and other groups/agencies. Plus like-minded others)
- Build capacity and resources
- Aligned to CC core values (which are honour people and their stories; build capacity - in people, communities, in the team; check it is right and celebrate - diversity, challenge and success)
* Below are the ideas Merv had that he emailed to Paparina seeing as he was absent:
PURPOSE:
- Advisory
- Educative (especially around the orientation and evaluation phases)
- Tautoko/Awhi
- Kaitiaki
- Collaborative with tauiwi
- Enhance and maintain the whakatika/whakapono of our practice; keeping the mauri/wairua alive and evident
TERMS OF REFERENCE/STRUCTURE:
- I do believe in a quorum and I believe in the protection of entry to TM
- I would say that at least 80% of existing members need to approve any new member. It might even pay to say that the Chair has veto power, as a Service Manager has a high-level oversight and might have heard wind in the organisation re: the conduct of that nominee
- Terms of reference. Personally I would leave it up to TM's 'worldview' where we get to determine if te/nga take are significant for us to take on board
- The Trust Deed should be able to inform us about how the Board goes about their process of electing board members
Limited membership to 10 members only. At the moment there are 7 of us.
What is the process to recruit other members? Should you have to be Maori/Pacific Islander to be a part of Toitoi Manawa?
Initially Maori/Pacific Island members while at this embryonic stage - later on open up . . . .
Potential members Tanya and Merv?
Toitoi Manawa meetings are open to the Board/ED & GM at all times
STRUCTURE OF MEETINGS
- Begin with Karakia/Waiata
- End with mihimihi
- Agenda: Apologies, minutes, general business etc
12 month cycle for members discussed. Expectation of 12 month commitment to Toitoi Manawa
What is the process to recruit and induct new members?
