Paula is receiving cultural supervision via Mat at Orongomai Marae.
Merv earlier emailed a supervisors register. Merv is finishing his graduate/post-graduate supervision course this year and can advise further re: supervision.

Feedback from Wendy: Te Reo, noho and cultural mentoring were predominant themes
Local presenters (Hemi is a possibility) should facilitate alongside Ruth
Emotional safety was talked about by Kimi. Paula mentioned that at the time "her wairua wouldn't have taken it". The treaty can bring up mamae and riri.
Ruth, although acknowledged for her ability, is nevertheless Pakeha and not Maori.

Discussion centred around suggestions and recommendations to enhance our current 'Hunga Haua Maori and Whanaungatanga (Families)' policy
The alterations were as follows:

'To enable service delivery which acknowledges and upholds'
PARAGRAPH 1 beginning with 'All Community Connections'
'importance of the marae' changes to . . . .
'importance of Tikanga Maori'
Merv suggested that we could ask Hemi to revamp our Staff Handbook regarding Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Hemi will also present models of practice(more tailored towards intellectual disabilities than Te Whare Tapa Wha?)
The two sentences above are to complement orientation and Treaty training workshops
Kimi's ideas for Toitoi Manawa that could be incorporated into the model: incite, motivate, encourage and inspire
Merv's kupu included: whakapiki (enablement) and totika (effectiveness). The following translations need to be checked, but they endeavour to follow Community Connection's core values:

- Pukenga? Pumanawa?
- Hauatanga - Kaha
- Maia(tanga)

During this korero, Thelma raised a question about Tangihanga leave relating to whangai. Section 4.4 of the Collective agreement (covering the period of 1 September 2009 - 31 August 2011) outlines Tangihanga leave provisions currently.

We have kaumatua blessing to formalise these Maori kupu (Te Hapori Awhina Tangata is already in use and will appear on the new brochures that are about to be printed)
